Family photos at The St. Regis Longboat Key: what I have photographed here
Four times so far: a family morning, a couple in the evening, portraits after dark and a sunset proposal. Here is where each one went; below it is what I can promise for yours.
01 · A May morning, 7:45 am
A family of five
Parents and three daughters, in white, pink and floral dresses. We started on a terrace above the lawn, moved down to the lawn in front of the tower, then out to the sand, the pier and the edge of the water, where the girls ran through the surf with their parents walking behind them. The whole session took under an hour, and the soft, overcast light that morning was kind to every face.
02 · A May evening, two hours before sunset
A couple in their evening best
A navy suit and a beaded gown, photographed on the wide stone stairs in front of the tower and then out on the pier, while the Gulf was still turquoise in the late afternoon light.
03 · The same night, after dark
Portraits on a lit terrace
A few portraits of a young woman in a long floral dress, on a terrace above the pool with the resort lit up behind her. They are further down this page.
04 · A September sunset
A proposal by the pier
He asked at the edge of the water with the pier behind them, and afterwards they walked along the shore until the sky turned pink. How I plan a surprise like that is on my proposal page.

The lawn, the stone stairs and the terraces are the resort's own grounds, so I do not promise them for your session. What I can promise is the sand and the water in front of the resort, with the pier in view, and that is where most of a family hour happens anyway: the children in the shallows, the whole family at the water, the sky behind you.
The same goes for the pier. It is a private structure that runs out into the Gulf, so I do not promise time on it either. From the water's edge it stays in the picture behind you, as in the proposal photo above.
How a family session at this Longboat Key resort works
- 01
Book online
Pick an hour or ninety minutes, add everyone who is coming and choose a morning or an evening. The calendar shows only the windows I photograph on your date, and you see the full price before you pay a 30 percent deposit.
- 02
Meet me at the resort
After you book I send you the exact meeting spot. The resort asks guests to check with the front desk before an outside photographer comes. It is a quick thing and nothing to worry about. Come five minutes early, five to ten with a big group, and we walk down to the sand together. What to wear has the colors for this white sand.
- 03
The session
Everyone together first, while the light is even and nobody has wandered off, then each family, the children on their own and the grandparents with the grandchildren.
- 04
Your gallery
In 2 to 5 days, an online gallery of hand-edited photos with no watermarks. If it holds more photos than your session includes, you choose your included ones first; buying more is entirely optional.

Evenings at The St. Regis, and a little flash
The beach faces west, so the sun sets straight into the Gulf. By the US Naval Observatory, sunset in mid-month is about 5:58 pm in January, 7:55 pm in April, 8:27 pm in July and 7:02 pm in October.
An evening session starts about an hour and 45 minutes before sunset, and the last one ends by ten minutes after sunset. From December to February the evening window opens earlier, in the middle of the afternoon, because the low winter sun stays soft for longer. Mornings start at 7:30 or 8:00 am. The calendar shows the exact times for your date, and my best time guide has the clock for each month.
With the sun behind you, I add just enough flash to keep your faces bright and the sunset in the sky. These two portraits show the same small flash one May evening, well after dark and outside session hours.

Photographer at The St. Regis Longboat Key: where I photograph
At the water's edge
The wet sand along the water, below the mean high-water line, is open to everyone under the Florida Constitution. That is where I photograph, and where the photographs are best anyway.
One person, from booking to gallery
The person you book is the person who shows up with the camera, edits your photos and answers your messages. Your price for the whole family is on screen before you pay: 30 percent now, the rest after the session.
Staying nearby, not at the resort?
Then I meet you at a public beach access close to where you stay instead. The resort is at 1601 Gulf of Mexico Drive, about 6 minutes from St. Armands Circle, about 8 from Lido Beach and about 25 from the airport without traffic, longer in season. My Longboat Key page covers the rest of the island, from the quiet north end to the beaches by the condos.
Reviews on this page: families I photographed elsewhere around Sarasota
This photoshoot was so fun, and Yuriy had so many fun poses to try with our family. It was such a comfortable shoot and our pictures turned out so so good! Would absolutely use him again!

Pick a morning or an evening of your stay, and the meeting spot at the resort comes with your booking.
A big thank you to Yuriy! He was very easy to work with as he helped walk me through everything from booking to ordering!
Three generations at the resort
A resort week is often the one time the whole family is in one place: grandparents, their children and all the cousins. Up to 20 people book online, for an hour or ninety minutes, and with more than that you write to me first. The price grows with each person over five, and the calculator shows your exact total before you pay.
When you are staying at the resort there is no drive and no parking lot to deal with, which matters when a grandparent walks slowly. From June to September the evenings are hot and humid, so with small children or grandparents a 7:30 or 8:00 am start is often the easier choice: cooler and calmer.
See real groups of ten and more, photographed on the beaches around Sarasota.
Is an hour enough for twelve or fourteen people? Yes: the whole group comes first, while everyone is still tidy, then each family, the cousins and the grandparents with the grandchildren. Ninety minutes gives more time for all the combinations, and the calculator shows both.
At the resort itself I have so far photographed a family of five and couples; my bigger groups, ten and more people, have been on the beaches around Sarasota, and the sand here works the same way. Real groups of ten and more, and how I run them, are on the large families page.
He was great with our large group of 9 people and especially good with the children. The photos he provided us were amazing and something we will cherish forever! We would definitely use him again if we are in the area
What a photographer at The St. Regis Longboat Key costs
The price
Mornings, weekday evenings, weekend evenings
A family hour is $350 for up to five people: mornings any day and Monday to Thursday evenings. Friday to Sunday evening is $450. Ninety minutes, and the price for more people, are on the Sessions page. Longboat Key adds a $50 travel fee, ticked at booking.
A 30 percent deposit holds your date and the rest is paid after the session. A cancellation more than 7 days before the session is refunded in full. How this compares with other photographers around Sarasota: how much family photos cost.
What is included
70 photos, in days
70 hand-edited photos for an hour with up to five people, more for a bigger family, in an online gallery in 2 to 5 days, with no watermarks. Your included photos are part of the price you see before you book.
The calendar opens four months ahead and closes 12 hours before a session, so a booking made on the first evening of your stay can still work. Vacation family photography shows how a session fits into a week on the Gulf.
A question first? Text me or write to me.
We absolutely loved our experience with him! He was so kind, patient, and professional, and made our family feel completely comfortable throughout the entire session. The photos turned out absolutely beautiful - so natural and full of love.
If it rains on your day
I watch the beach on the day, not the rain icon, and I make the call about an hour before the start. A summer shower often passes before sunset. If the evening is genuinely gone, I move the session to the nearest open morning or evening, and your deposit stays on the booking. There is no reschedule button: reply to your confirmation email or text me, and I move it myself.
Book your photos early in the stay rather than on the last evening, so a spare morning is left. If the weather does take the session and no window is left before you fly home, I refund what you paid in full. The rest, from hurricanes to wind, is in what happens if it rains.
St. Regis Longboat Key family photos: FAQ
Can I bring my own photographer to The St. Regis Longboat Key?
Yes, on the public wet sand in front of it. I am an independent photographer, not affiliated with the resort. The one thing to do at the resort beforehand is in step 02 of how a family session at the resort works.
Can we take photos on the resort grounds?
Not as a promise. The lawn, the stairs, the terraces and the pier all belong to the resort, so I plan your hour on the public sand by the water, with the pier in the background.
Where do we meet for photos at the resort?
At the resort itself. The exact spot comes with your booking, and from there it is a short walk to the water. Step 02 of how it works has the rest.
We are staying nearby, not at the resort. Can we still book?
Yes. I meet you at a public beach access near where you stay instead. The beaches I use on the island are on my Longboat Key page.
Can you photograph a proposal at the St. Regis?
Yes. I photographed one by the pier at sunset in September 2026. How a proposal session works, and its price, are on my proposal page.
Is the beach in front of the St. Regis public?
The wet strip of sand by the water is public, and that is where a session happens. Why, with the source, is under where I photograph.
How much does a photographer at the St. Regis Longboat Key cost?
$350 for an hour with up to five people, $450 on a weekend evening. Everything else is in the price section, and a bigger group's total is in the calculator.
What time is sunset at the St. Regis Longboat Key?
Between about 5:36 pm in early December and 8:29 pm in late June, straight into the Gulf. Evening start times and the month by month clock are under evening light.
What if it rains?
I decide about an hour before the start by the real sky. If the evening is lost, I move you to another morning or evening and the deposit stays on the booking. If no window is left before you fly home, I refund what you paid in full.
